Significance:

Tomb of Hazrat Babajan – A Muslim saint who lived in Poona for 25 years. She was one of the five Sadgurus – Perfect Masters – who kissed young Merwan (Meher Baba) on his forehead when as a teenager, he was riding a bicycle and met Babajan under a neem tree. The chopped trunk of neem tree can still be seen. One night during January 1914, as Merwan was about to leave, He kissed Babajan’s hands and she in turn held his face in her hands. The time had come. Babajan held Merwan’s face, looked deeply into his eyes with all her love and kissed him on the forehead. Turning to her followers nearby, she pointed her finger at the dazed Merwan and declared, “This is my beloved son. He will one day shake the world and all of humanity will be benefited by him.” Baba said that with that kiss Babajan bestowed upon him Infinite Knowledge. In 1924, when in Meherabad, Meher Baba had provided Rs.4000 to be used for the construction of the tomb of Babajan whenever she would drop her body. Babajan dropped her body on 21st Sept 1931 at 4.27 pm.
