Pataleshwar Caves
Address: Jungli Maharaj Road , near Junglee Maharaj temple , Shivajinagar, Pune
Year & Date : 1915
Significance:
8th Century rock cut cave temples, below ground level, dedicated to Lord Shiva( Pataleshwar). Statues of Seetha, Ram, Lakshman and Ganesh are also present. Massive pillars have been sculptured out of monolithic stone.
There are also Buddhist caves nearby.
Meher Baba used to visit the caves and meditate here after his contact with Hazrat Babajan.
