Shivaji Statue
Address: SSPMS Boarding School, Shivajinagar, Pune 411005
Year & Date : Jan 1922 to May 1922
Significance:
During 1921, an impressive and imposing bronze statue of the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, sculptured by V.P. Karmarkar, was inaugurated. One day, during a stroll through the city, Meher Baba explained that for certain spiritual work there occur in varying centuries two types of Avataric incarnations – major and minor. He then revealed his past minor incarnation as the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj . “In a past lifetime, I was Shivaji. Until recently, the British have left nothing undone to detract from Shivaji historically. Yet, they have now had a statue unveiled by the Prince of Wales.” (1922) (Lord Meher page 276)
